Draft an NCM citation

Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal. Up to 8 lines as printed on the certificate (NAVSO 1650/11).

Type what you did and what it changed. Rough notes are fine.

Do not enter classified, CUI, or sensitive personal information. Drafts are kept in this browser; your notes are sent to generate statements and never stored by Brevet.
Basis

Sets the opening sentence.

At retirement, a sentence with the total years of service goes before the closing (2E.4.f(5)).

Closing sentence

The manual allows exactly two forms and never a mix of the two (2E.4.g).

The member

These fill the opening and closing sentences. Anything left blank stays in [brackets] for you to fill in.

Sets the title the citation uses; edit it below if your command writes it differently.

The ship, squadron, company or team, named only far enough up the chain to identify it (2E.4.f(2)).

Attributes

The two qualities the closing sentence names: pick from Table 19 or type your own.

The citation opens and closes with

FOR Meritorious service while serving as [duty title], [unit] from [start month year] to [end month year].

[Title] [Last Name]'s [attribute], [attribute], and [adjective] dedication to duty reflected credit upon [him/her] and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

The certificate pre-prints “FOR” before the opening sentence; Brevet neither types nor counts it.

Two or three accomplishments, with the numbers. Use your own words.

What changed, improved, or was prevented because of your action?

Recommended
